Every child is born with a spark of genius in them (or divinity, potential greatness, or whatever term you prefer), which has the potential to become the thing they are better at than anyone else in the world. Our role as parents (in addition to tending to physical needs and safety) is no more or less than to fan this spark and fuel it as needed. Here’s how I fan and fuel that spark:
Fueling refers to facilitating, or creating a nutrient-rich environment for the whole child.
- Fill your bookshelf with good books and visit the library regularly
- Fill your home with good music and artwork, art supplies, tools and/or instruments for the children to play with and learn how to use when they feel inclined
- Experience fine arts performances and museums
- Allow them to be outside and explore nature
